The challenge

Adobe’s Global Marketing Department employed Adobe Experience Manager Assets 6.0 as a central hub to provide vendors and external stakeholders access to Adobe’s key marketing assets.

Dev support for the Adobe Experience Manager Sites instance was minimal, and an unintuitive navigation interface hindered adoption company-wide.

Adobe needed to improve the system’s user experience to encourage widespread usage of their Marketing Hub:

- Migration of over 55k assets and metadata to a new Adobe Experience Manager instance

- Changes in the metadata structure meant multiple scripts had to be run against the entire digital asset management (DAM) instance to update the tagging structure, allowing the filter/keyword search to deliver accurate results

- Complex user permission sets

- Asset metadata management enhancements and validation rules

03
The solution

Publishing 55k+ assets to a custom Adobe Experience Manager Sites solution for distribution to Adobe’s internal employees.

To avoid the user experience (UX) challenges presented by their heavily customized instance of Adobe Experience Manager Sites, Adobe chose to utilize their newly minted product, Adobe Experience Manager Assets Brand Portal (a SaaS solution that provides marketing teams with a secure platform to efficiently distribute/contribute branded content).

Admins can control distribution of approved assets to external parties and internal business, and external users can contribute to Brand Portal and publish to Adobe Experience Manager Assets without accessing the author environment.

- Multiple terabytes of content and associated metadata successfully migrated to new 6.5 structure with extensive custom development

- Customized workflow tasks for Adobe specific use cases

- Custom rendition enhancements, allowing content authors to upload any file type to particular asset
