The Customer

Data-driven healthcare company automates lead vetting to reach more underserved patients in the U.S

Data-driven healthcare company that combines GenAI insights and care to transform health outcomes for underserved communities across a major U.S. state.

The customer developed a unique healthcare management platform that optimizes workflow, streamlines processes, and enhances patient care, offering quality health analysis through integrated virtual care.

The platform automates patient identification and initial assessments, enabling primary-care networks to identify eligible patients earlier and clinicians to deliver digital services more quickly.

02
The challenge

The customer had limited visibility into patient populations and relied on manual, time-consuming lead intake and qualification processes. Fragmented data across clinical, operational, and community-service systems made it difficult to identify and prioritize patients eligible for Enhanced Care Management (ECM), track referrals and enrollment status, and connect high-need patients with appropriate care in a timely manner.

The customer also needed a scalable, internally managed data foundation that could reduce dependency on third-party platforms such as Salesforce and MuleSoft, improve control over integrations and data governance, and create a single source of truth for patient and care-management information.

03
The solution

AI/R Compass UOL created a unified data foundation that brings fragmented patient information together, automates the identification and qualification of eligible patients, and helps the business connect them to the right ECM programs faster. The solution improves operational efficiency, data governance, and decision-making while reducing manual work and creating a scalable foundation for future integrations, analytics, and AI capabilities.

The platform brings ingestion, processing, governance, and analytics into a centralized workflow. It also establishes a foundation for future AI capabilities using Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker.

The solution included the following AWS services:

- AWS Glue for ETL or ELT processes and as a data catalog to store metadata of the data stored on Amazon S3

- Jobs to ingest and push data for sources H3C and Schio

- Lambdas according to source characteristics

- AWS Lambda functions for serverless code execution, reducing job execution costs

- Amazon Athena as an SQL-like solution, providing serverless queries on data persisted in Amazon S3

- Amazon IAM to create users and grant/restrict access to AWS resources

- AWS Lake Formation to simplify the management and Data Lake evolution, helping to define permissions on the data lake and in the metadata catalog

- Dora by AI/R as a cutting-edge cloud-based accelerator for Data Lakehouses, providing fast implementation with high level of quality using native AWS services

- Amazon Redshift and Amazon QuickSight initially configured for future process

Main results

≈50% lower implementation cost compared with a traditional Data Lake

Production-ready data lake delivered in just three months, accelerating access to trusted data and business insights.

Unified data across H3C, Salesforce Health Cloud, and Schio, enabling faster patient qualification, coordinated care workflows, and more informed decision-making.

One centralized data platform streamlines ingestion, processing, business-rule execution, cataloging, and querying—reducing operational complexity and providing a governed, reliable foundation for the business.

Automated candidate qualification applies standardized business rules to identify ECM-eligible candidates consistently, accelerating enrollment workflows, reducing manual effort, and helping the organization reach qualified patients sooner.

Unified data for better decision-making consolidates information from multiple sources into a single, trusted platform, enabling more efficient qualification workflows, stronger analytical insights, and greater visibility across care-management operations.

A scalable foundation for future growth supports new data sources, advanced analytics, and AI capabilities as business priorities evolve—protecting the investment while enabling faster innovation and expansion.
